Industrial action during December.
Unfortunately, the RMT union has called a number of strikes for December (the next scheduled dates are Saturday 23 December, Sunday 24 December, Wednesday 27 December and Sunday 31 December.) that will significantly affect CrossCountry train services. We will be operating a reduced service but running some longer trains. Network Rail will be carrying out major track improvement work on the line near Newcastle.
Saturday 6 – Sunday 14 January 2018.
The line will be closed south of Newcastle station for nine days and a revised timetable will be in operation. Journey times on trains to and from Scotland will be extended by a few minutes. Trains that normally operate between Newcastle – Reading/Southampton Central will start and terminate at Durham, with connecting rail services operating between Newcastle and Durham.
Please note that additional work will be taking place between Darlington and Newcastle from 1215 on Saturday 13 to 1300 Sunday 14 January. Rail replacement road transport will be in operation between Darlington, Durham and Newcastle.
